Brisbane City Plan 2014 - Minor and Administrative Amendments (v01.02/2015) now live

31/8/2015

Brisbane City Council Announcement...

Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan) provides a blueprint for development over the next 20 years, incorporating feedback from the largest community consultation process undertaken by Council in the last decade. It supports Brisbane's evolution into a New World City and promotes a simpler and more certain development assessment process.

Brisbane City Council is committed to maintaining the City Plan so that it is current, robust and resilient and to continue to facilitate economic growth while also protecting our city's much-loved character and heritage through sustainable development. To achieve this, from time to time the City Plan needs to be amended to reflect changes in legislation and to respond to community and industry experiences from development assessment outcomes.

On 1 September 2015, Council adopted the Minor Amendments (v01.02/2015), which incorporated minor and administrative amendments to the City Plan. A commencement (or effective) date was set for today, Friday 4 September 2015. You can review the current City Plan ePlan and mapping on Council's website by searching 'City Plan'. The previous version of the City Plan prior to this amendment can still be accessed by reviewing Appendix 2 in Council's ePlan.

Also on 1 September 2015, Council proposed to prepare to draft a major amendment to the City Plan. This major amendment is following the major amendment statutory process outlined in the Queensland Government's Statutory Guideline 04/14 ("Making and amending local planning instruments"). Further information on the process and timing of this draft amendment is available on Council's website by searching 'Proposed amendment'.

A series of fact sheets and tools to assist you in understanding City Plan and how to lodge an application are available. To access these tools or to learn more about the City Plan visit Council's website and search for 'City Plan'.

And just a reminder - Council holds Talk to a planner sessions across the city and the next sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, 14 October at the Kedron Wavell RSL Community Centre. Attendees can drop in at any time during the sessions however, to ensure Council can cater to demand, people interested in attending are encouraged to register their attendance via Council's Talk to a Planner reservation line on 07 3178 5500.

FAQ - Is there a good or bad time for property development?

2/8/2015

There is no good time or bad time for property development. If the feasibility study is done correctly and conservatively, a property development can be successful in any economic environment. Sintra will always take into account the current market conditions when doing a feasibility study. For example, we’ll factor in longer selling times if the market is slow, or factor in higher buying prices for the site when the market is hot.
